Cycling Friendly

oregon and washington have been fantastic for cycling.  portland is the friendliest city i've been in for cyclists, except any city in the netherlands.  vancouver can't be far behind.  there are bike lanes everywhere, its all well marked and signed.  and there  are cyclists everywhere, of all models and makes:  commuters, competitive racers, recreational types.  consequently, people are much more aware, and this being the northwest and not chicago, they're more acommodating.

so, to answer your question, roy, no one's yelled at us or flipped us off.  even on the interstates they're pretty good.  and patient on the downhills and turns.  the first day, on a two lane highway with small shoulder, we had a couple of cars (truck) pass us closer than i would have liked.  but, hey, that's it.

i know it will change as we head east, but i hope not much.
