July 23 - prelude

today was a good day.  i finally got across montana.  i have to be careful not to be negative.  i enjoyed the state.  it's beautiful, very beautiful. and the people i met were very nice,  but it's big, and in the end i just wanted to get passed it and move on.  670 miles on route 2.  i didn't do them all, but that's how long the state is.

tonight i'm staying with jim conklin in stanley, nd., courtesy of warmshowers.org.  first time i've used it.  limited internet access, so i can't do much much but make this quick post.

looks like i'll be three more days making it to grand forks, nd.  wisconsin boarder.  265 mi. on a divided 4-lane.  there just aren't many options.  it won't be fun, just need to get it done.  plan is to treat myself to a night in a hotel when i get to grand forks.  that's probably where i'll be able to catch up on blogging and get pictures added.
