Day 15

started the day with another uphill climb.  just as steep as going to the sun road, just not as long.  still several miles of climb.  then down, then up again.  then down,  then up again, but much shorter.  after 21 miles, i turned left onto starr school road, and oh my god!  flat, with a tail wind, and i was flying.  and it stayed that way.  i was in top gear and just putting the miles away.  montana just flattens out after the mountains.

sometimes you need to remember to look around, look back at where you've come from.  i can only imagine how lewis and clark felt as they came across the plaines and saw those mountains just jutting straight up.

ate breakfast/lunch in a downtown cafe in cut bank.  they let me sit in the corner for a couple of hours, just chilling, writing, and recharging batteries, mine and the electrical device's.  finally, started back up and just kept riding.  stopped about every ten miles.  before i knew it, over 100 miles.  found a spot behind an abandoned motel out in the middle of nowhere.  i was later joined by a trio of riders i had passed earlier:   jamie, the urban farmer, husband jeromy, unemployed marquette graduate, and sarah, a washington state small farmer.  sarah was pretty burnt on the face and shoulders.  they left the coast near seattle and are heading to maine somewhere.  we spent the night in the field.  they were still sleeping when i left in the morning.
